The Pharmaceutical Industry Network Group (PING) was set up by Paul Gershlick from Veale Wasbrough Vizards (VWV), in conjunction with the Watford & West Herts Chamber of Commerce and Watford Council. Paul is a Partner in the Veale Wasbrough Vizard’s Commercial/IP/IT Team and Head of the Pharmaceutical and Life Sciences Sector Group.
PING hosts networking and learning events, where businesses in the sector learn from and help each other to grow and develop and overcome challenges together.
Regular meetings involve a round-table discussion with other people based locally in the sector.
Amongst organisations represented are prescription-based suppliers, OTC suppliers, generics suppliers, manufacturers, wholesale, logistics, orphan drugs, named patient suppliers, comparator drug suppliers, pharmacies, exporters, importers, regulatory advisers, pharma insurers and pharma researchers. The group makes for a great mix and discussions. As well as the round-table discussions, each meeting includes a particular themed topic for a short talk. PING normally has around 20 people attend from different parts of the industry.
PING also holds big seminars with well-known speakers (for about 100 industry attendees) on topical issues facing the sector. Previous speakers have included Professor Brian Smith speaking about the future of the industry, Rt Hon Kevin Barron MP on the medicine supply shortages, and key people involved in the new NHS landscape.
